Connecting with Kids: Heart to Heart
"In this new day in American education which has emphasized evaluation and testing to improve our schools, we must all remember that the three things kids need as they start this life-long learning process are: 1) a relationship with a caring person, 2) skills necessary to survive, and 3) hope. After young people know that someone cares for them, they will learn to read, they will learn to write, and they will learn arithmetic! Jim emphasizes specific skills necessary to connect with kids in such a way that as a team the pathway to learning opens to all kids!"
"Promising Practices for Program Improvement Districts and Schools
As more and more schools and districts encounter the challenges of Program Improvement, it is critical they hear stories of success and hope from all who work with our educators. Using anecdotes from his own
experiences gleaned from twenty-one years as an educator and thirty years as an educational consultant, Jim will lead discussions on raising the morale of educators, emphasizing the importance of establishing and maintaining a meaningful and caring relationship with kids, and through that relationship teach the skills necessary for success in the
twenty-first century. Jim presents a rationale for increasing ‘hope’ as an essential for turning schools toward success." More >
